What else should I know about Serhat?

Serhat is a Turkish singer, producer and television presenter who will be representing San Marino at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Say Na Na Na”.

Ahmet Serhat Hac?pa?al?o?lu (better known as Serhat) was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey in 1964 and went on to graduate from the Faculty of Dentistry at Istanbul University in 1988.

In 1994, he formed his own production company End Productions which went on to produce the Turkish version of the quiz show Jeopardy!, known as Riziko! in Turkey. Serhat also hosted the show and went on to win the award for “Best Male Host of the year” the following year.

Serhat launched his music career in 1997 with the release of his first double single “Rüya” and “Ben Bir Daha”. In the next few years, the singer was kept busy presenting various TV shows and fans had to wait seven years for his follow up single “Total Disguise”, a duet with Eurovision host Viktor Lazlo. Fourteen years later, Serhat re-released the single as a duet with 2005 Eurovision winner Helena Paparizou.

At the beginning of 2016, San Marino RTV announced Serhat as San Marino’s representative for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. He performed “I Didn’t Know” in the first semi-final and narrowly missed qualifying for the final. A revamped version of the song featuring Martha Wash was released at the end of the year, which reached number twenty-five on the Dance Club Songs chart in the US. This achievement made Serhat the first Turkish artist to appear on the chart.

In January of this year, San Marino RTV once again announced Serhat as San Marino’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. He will be performing the song “Say Na Na Na” in the first semi-final of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv.
